Layout Hangover

To any layout artist, Duck Amok works on some plane approaching Nirvana...that doesn't mean pure bliss, either...
These are great on their own, but are a bit how i felt teaching layout this year.. next year's class, take note!

And speaking of Nirvana...Remember, Sidhaarta attained Nirvana after realizing that all no matter how hard he worked or searched for meaning in higher things, it all just came down to watching the river go by...not so different than just watching TV and eating pizza...

Shining a little light on the Subject

Posting in response to a request.
A few pages from a demo done at school...actually, a while ago now. Several weeks. Back when it seemed to matter.
In fact, SCHOOL"S OUT!!
HOORAY!!

Teaching; many's the remark made about it...
It's fun and rewarding, but sometimes you just have to mark one too many assignments.
Then you just do the Daffy.

But, as for the light and shadow,
Again this is nothing new, it can be found in Loomis and others.
Although, I have taken the "plane that finds the shadow" thing further than is done in "Successful Drawing".

I will post his for comparison if i can find it. Too pooped right now to subject my frail copy of the book to spine breaking scanning.

Remember, ANGLE and DIRECTION of light. Practice yourself, try examples with the light in different positions.
Find good examples of lighting and draw them.
